My tester came with a 500W hub motor paired with a 720Wh battery that’s supposedly good for a whopping 55 miles of range, qualifying this electric commuter bike as a genuine “long-range” e-bike option (a Bafang mid-drive motor is available on the higher-end premium model with the same battery). Unlike the Zebra with its Shimano SIS shifting and right-hand throttle, the Rambler uses more conventional trigger shifters on the right handlebar and a thumb throttle on the left side.

The Himiway Cruiser is an affordable all-purpose electric bike that combines cruiser comfort with off-road capabilities and commuting utility. With a rear rack and lights included by default and mount points for fenders and a front basket, the Cruiser is great for commuting while also providing a comfortable ride thanks to the upright riding position, fat tires, and a suspension fork with 100mm of travel. Driving the Cruiser is a Lüanxing 750-watt hub motor with an impressive 80nm of torque paired with an enormous 840 watt-hour battery to provide plenty of power and range, the electric assistance is activated by the tried-and-true combination of a sealed cadence sensor with a twist throttle. Charging the high-capacity battery can take a long time with the basic 2-amp charger, pedaling range is limited due to the 14-28 tooth cassette, mechanical brakes save costs but don't perform as well as hydraulic, and the rear light is independently powered and operated.

If you’ve got a truck and want an eMTB with the range to ride for most of the day and the ability to take you just about anywhere, the 2023 Himiway Cobra Pro may be that bike.

I like how it handles itself off-road, how comfortable the ride is, how easy it is to adjust the suspension, and how potent the drivetrain is.

I also like that the Cobra Pro is comfortable on both trails and not, meaning that those that like to spend time in the country or the bush can enjoy this bike just as much as someone that spends their time riding the trails. It has tackled hundreds of kilometers of the Canadian prairie, much of which did not involve trails or pavement, and never complained.

It moves!  I have tested some e-scooters and have been very disappointed.  They seemed weak and could not handle the hills in my neighborhood.  Not so with the Himiway Zebra e-bike.  Once assembled, the first place I took it was on some rooty and rocky trails in the woods behind my house. These trails include some really steep hills, which the bike handled with ease, with a little pedaling help from me.  On the paved roads in my mountain town, the bike has no problem.  There’s plenty of power.  Out on the “open road,” it easily clicks along at 25 MPH under its own power. The fat tires give plenty of cushion and grip, although I did have to inflate them quite a bit to get rid of a mushy steering feeling.  And the suspension fork really helps take out big hits and potholes.  The fork is adjustable as well, with a pre-load for rider weight, and rebound damping (how quickly the fork moves through its stroke).

Well, all of Himiway's ideals are wrapped up in the rather tank-like Zebra. I say "tank-like" because while I was riding this thing around town, I couldn't help but feel like I was on a moped or even a smaller motorcycle. That has to do with the fact that the Zebra is built upon 26 in wheels with fat tires. You know, those massive 4 in cross-section rubbers, and once those get rolling, the Zebras bulky and heavy frame gives rise to a wonderful center of gravity.

Throughout two different journeys across Houston's major bike trail, the Himiway Zebra conquered the 70-mile trip without a hitch, with even a shred of battery left to spare by the time I got home. Hardly any of the time was spent even pedaling, too, and it made trekking across the city one of the smoothest travels I've ever had. Houston is a busy place, with a lot of traffic; being able to bypass that on a calm bike trail was nothing short of amazing.

The Himiway Big Dog is a new “cargo” bike from Himiway, a popular electric bike brand that has expanded its product line considerably over the last year. While I’m not sure this bike qualifies as a true cargo bike by most definitions, it’s definitely a fun little utility e-bike that cruises more like a mini-moped.

On the move, however, you never feel the weight. Even on the lowest, “level 1” pedal assist, the Himiway’s powerful, 750W geared hub motor – fed by a 48V, 20Ah Samsung/LG battery – does a fantastic job of pushing the Zebra along like a bike weighing half as much. In fact, you almost never feel the bike’s mass at all while you’re on the move. The bike’s 7, Shimano trigger-shift gears have just the right ratios, giving a trip through the gears a crisp, linear feel. The big hydraulic disc brakes, too, feel like they’d haul the massive Zebra down from just about any speed with confidence-inspiring stability.

The power is plentiful and it comes on very strong. As with most hub motor equipped bikes, (the majority of under $2500 bikes), the motor turns on when the rider is pedaling and the cranks are rotating. It comes on strong since it really doesn't know how much power the rider wants. And it keeps the power while the rider is pedaling or until the rider touches the brakes.

The electric parts on the Himiway Cruiser fat bike are pretty impressive. This e-bike boasts a 750W brushless geared rear hub motor with 80Nm of torque that can be utilized via pedal-assist and throttle. The 48V 17.5Ah battery packs 840Wh, which is more than enough to give you ~30-60 miles of range, depending on how you ride.

In the marketing this is an electric assist fat bike. The use would be snow, sand, and dirt roads and it would work for that stuff. The only thing that really keeps you from doing that is what it requires to get it loaded up. The bike weighs over 70lbs and taking it on a rack will mean a rack setup that can handle that kind of weight.

The Himiway Zebra comes in high step and step-thru variations offered in grey and white respectively. We chose to review the step-thru for its accessibility. The step-thru design on the Zebra looks cleaner and we prefer it compared to the Himiway Cruiser Step-Thru which is more of a mid-step. Additionally, the battery is hidden nicely in the frame on the Zebra.

It was so powerful that even though there are five levels of pedal assist, I actually stayed in pedal assist 1-2 for the majority of this range test. Generally, I like to have an average pace of around 12-14 mph on my range tests. Even with the big hills, pedal assist two hauled me right up while still maintaining around 11-12 mph. If I planned to continue to commute with this bike I would have adjusted the pedal assist power levels in the advanced settings. This would allow the Zebra to have a smaller jump in power between pedal assist one and two. Take a peek into the manual and you will find directions on how to do this.

The Himiway Big Dog is like the Himiway Zebra’s little sibling. It sports a similar shape, just miniaturized to accommodate shorter riders and be less intimidating. It’s still a heavy bike at nearly 91lbs but Himiway notes a rider minimum height of only 5 feet, and with a step-through design, the bike should fit just about everyone. Himiway also put the battery inside the frame, keeping it out of the way for shorter riders. A more upright riding position is provided by the BMX style handlebars.
